Nascar is for hooisers and rednecks, that is why the majority of fans defand it as a sport, because they do not know any better. If it was not for rednecks, then every other person would like it instead of busch beer drinkin, cut off jorts, sleveless t-shirt, and thongs wearing, cooler toting, truckdrivin, trailer drivin and livin, rednecks. NASCAR is essentially "pure uninhibited capitalism" (Hagstrom 1998: 17). NASCAR is also a highly successful advertising opportunity for corporations because of the high degree of fan loyalty to those products associated with NASCAR. As the corporate version of NASCAR expands across the country and even around the world, (last year they held an exhibition race in Japan) Howell in the end poses the question of whether bigger is necessarily better for NASCAR.

NASCAR is not a nonprofit association as its name suggests, but a private, for-profit business owned by the billionaire France family. NASCAR is #1 and so are it's drivers. No need to deny it, it only makes you look more stupid and pathetic than you already are. NASCAR is truly a sport that is enjoyed today by many individuals nationwide. The actual concept of NASCAR began with what were called "bootleggers" smuggling whiskey at rapid speeds during the night. NASCAR is committed to making our sport ?on and off the race track ?look more like America. No other issue is more important for NASCAR to succeed and to grow.

Nascar is marketing, marketing, marketing. This makes money, money, money. NASCAR is it for me. Having tough skin for me is not an issue considering I work for 7 lawyers. NASCAR is the #1 spectator sport - holding 17 of the top 20 attended sporting events in the U.S. More than 75 million brand-loyal NASCAR followers purchase an estimated $2 billion worth of licensed products annually.

NASCAR is about the driver. Its a enormously growing sport and its evolving more then ever in the last 5-10 years. NASCAR is little more than a staged Hollywood show to entertain. There is very little real racing going on, except maybe for the likes of Tony Stewart, who is one of the very few "real" racers in NASCAR. NASCAR is becoming a corporate sport, with corporate prices.
